This summer there is a huge variety of events happening within easy reach of Goodwood – from jazz festivals to horseracing and fun family days out - there is something to entertain everyone.

Chichester Festival Theatre
24 April - 11 October 2008

This festival is unique in terms of the quantity of in-house shows it produces over such a short period of time, retaining its reputation for theatrical excellence. The Festival Season now runs in general from April to September. Highlights of the 2008 season include The Cherry Orchard starring Diana Rigg 15 May - 7 June and Funny Girl 28 April - 14 June.

Goodwood Horseracing

Set on top of the Sussex Downs, Goodwood is not only a breathtaking backdrop for some of the very finest flat racing, but it is also one of the world’s greatest venues for entertaining in international sport. There are few moments in sport to equal the thrill of a top class field making that final sprint to the winning post. Goodwood is world-class horse racing at its most relaxed and chic.

Chichester Festivities
27 June – 13 July 2008

Chichester Festivities is an exhilarating 17 day celebration of glorious music and the arts. The Festival brings some of the world"s biggest names in classical music, jazz and comedy, as well as world music, leading names from current affairs, politics and literature, to this beautiful Georgian city performing at some of the finest venues in the region. Highlights include Lulu in concert Chichester Cathedral 9 July, Marriage of Figaro Chichester Cathedral 7 July, Lovetrains firework concert at Goodwood 27 June

Real Ale and Jazz Festival, Priory Park
9-12 July 2008

Every night RAJF 08 features household-name bands bringing the fantastic sound of summer to Priory Park  The seasons’s festival has a line up including From The Jam, 10cc, Squeeze and the James Taylor Quartet.

Goodwood Festival of Speed
11-13 July 2008

Motor racing first came to Goodwood in 1936 when the 9th Duke of Richmond held a private hillclimb through the park. Five years earlier he had won the Brooklands Double 12, and then in 1948 he went on to open the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit. These early events inspired his grandson, the present Earl of March, to bring motor sport back to Goodwood. This resulted in the first Festival of Speed, held in 1993 in the picturesque parkland surrounding Goodwood House.

Glorious Goodwood
29 July – 2 August 2008

‘Glorious Goodwood’ and fashion go hand in hand. Ever since King Edward VII discarded formal morning dress in favour of a linen suit and Panama hat in 1906, ‘Glorious Goodwood’ has become the home of quintessential English summer fashion. Linen suits and the archetypal Goodwood Panama hat are worn by gentlemen, whilst ladies are noted for their classic quintessential English summer style.

Weald and Downland Museum

Set in 50 acres of stunning Sussex countryside the Weald and Downland Museum is a fascinating collection of nearly 50 historic buildings dating from the 13th to the 19th century, many with period gardens, together with farm animals, woodland walks and a picturesque lake. Special events throughout the summer include Children’s Summer Activity Wednesdays throughout August and the Steam Festival 16-17 August 2008.

Goodwood Revival Meeting
19-21 September 2008

The Goodwood Revival is the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting and the only event of its kind to be staged in the romantic time capsule of the Fifties and Sixties.  As well as recreating the golden era of motor sport, the Revival offers exceptional wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by the modern world.

Petworth House and Park

Set in a Capability Brown landscaped deer park, Petworth houses a stunning collection of international art. Picnic in the stunning grounds or enjoy special events during the summer which include Medieval Weekend 16-17 August and Petworth Pirates 5-6 August.
